Dan Jozwiak represents clients in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts. His practice emphasizes business torts and contracts, fiduciary duties and corporate governance, and trade secret and employment disputes. Before joining SGS in October 2021, Dan served as an Assistant Attorney General Fellow at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office.
Originally from South Texas, Dan moved to Colorado and attended law school at the University of Denver. During his time in law school, Dan served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Transportation Law Journal and as a Research Assistant for Professor Arthur Best. Dan also externed with Governor Jared Polis’ Office of Legal Counsel, Colorado Supreme Court Justice Carlos Samour, U.S. Magistrate Judge Kristen Mix, and in-house at a Boulder-based technology company.
When not practicing law, Dan is hiking Colorado’s mountains with his Siberian husky, biking through the Front Range, or cheering on his favorite soccer team, 1. FC Köln.
Representative Matters
Dan’s experience at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office includes the following:
Successfully first-chairing and obtaining a bench verdict on behalf of the Second Judicial District in a quiet title action
Successfully obtaining dismissal of a federal lawsuit filed against Governor Polis in a case challenging the Governor’s executive orders
Representing the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in opposition to an emergency application for injunction before the U.S. Supreme Court
Representing the Colorado Public Utilities Commission in a judicial review proceeding of the Commission’s regulatory decisions regarding property in Weld County
Representing the Colorado Department of Personnel and Administration in a judicial review proceeding where a state employee challenged the agency’s job classification procedure
